Register online for the SAT at sat.org/register or register for the ACT online at
www.actstudent.org . If it is the first time you have used the site, you must create an online
account with either site. Save this log in information. You will need it to view scores when they
post and to register for future testing. Please remember to enter our school CEEB code as 472-
445 or search on our school name for either test or click yes to Central High School when it
defaults to your school. Otherwise, we will not receive a copy of your scores. We can send
official copies of your scores to colleges at no charge whereas the CollegeBoard SAT and ACT
services will charge you for scores to be sent to colleges later on. Also, a recent change on the
registration screen online now asks if you wish to receive a paper score report. You must check
yes at the bottom of this screen in order to get your paper score report. If you do not check yes,
you will not receive a paper score report in the mail.
SAT II subject tests may also be required for admission to larger colleges and universities and
also may be required in order to transfer courses in. Please check with the university's
admissions requirements and transfer requirements. Registration for the SAT II is also available
online at the same site www.collegeboard.com.
Study Guides and a full length released test are available online for students to view, save, and
to print on the CollegeBoard and ACT websites. You may pick one up a study guide in my office
while supplies last.
On Test Day: Please remember to be early to the SAT test site, no later than 7:45AM. UVA-
Wise serves as a test center as well as M.E.C.C. on select dates. You must bring your test
admission ticket (which you should print after you complete the registration online), your
driver's license or other approved picture ID, an approved calculator (discussed in the
registration manual found online & on the website), and your own standard #2 pencils (not
mechanical). No electronic devices can be in your possession during testing including cell
phones, Blackberries, PDA's, etc. You may also bring a snack. This is a long test. Plan to be
there through lunch time.
*Fee waivers are also available to students who are taking the ACT and SAT tests if they
qualify for free/reduced lunch. There is a limit of two per student per high school career.
Quantities are limited. See Mrs. Salyers for a fee waiver if you qualify. They usually arrive
around the end of August.
SAT Program Fee-Waiver Service forms for Requests for Waivers of College Application
Fees are available through Mrs. Salyers in Guidance. Students are eligible for waivers that
qualify for free/reduced lunch through Wise County Public Schools by meeting qualifications
based on maximum family income and number of family members or see their income guidelines
in the brochure or online. Forms are available to students who took the SAT I Reasoning Test
using an SAT Fee Waiver Form at least once during their junior or senior year. The list of
schools that accept this waiver form is located at
http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/sat/directoryof-colleges-for-sat-program-fee-
waivers.pdf and a printed list is available in Guidance.
Any college bound seniors interested in free SAT/ACT practice test and preparation, go to
http://app.methodtestprep.com/CentralHighSchoolVA/signup It is a website access
program that WCPS funds for student access.
ACT: You can register for the ACT online at www.actstudent.org.
